Blues on the Corner

Song Titles and Descriptions

1. "Blues on the Corner" My original lyrics, to a McCoy Tyner standard, lamenting love lost on the corner with an empty old bottle of wine..
2. "Body and Soul" The perennial ballad takes a fresh turn in waltz tempo with a swinging bridge in four.
3. "Doxy" A sultry tune with my original words about the world's oldest profession.
4. "Four" Jon Hendricks' great lyrics are aired out on this one, including words to Miles Davis' trumpet and Horace Silver's piano solos.
5. "I Fall in Love Too Easily" Usually played slowly, we breathe new life into this tune by taking the tempo up and swinging hard.
6. "Love Came on Stealthy Fingers" Bob Dorough's wonderful words and music on a ballad that is rarely heard.
7. "My Ship" From the 1941 film, A Lady in the Dark, Kurt Weil's music and Ira Gershwin's words set to a Latin beat.
8. "Scrapple from the Apple" I strung song titles of jazz standards together to create the lyrics to this Bebop classic.
9. "Summertime" A funky version of the Gershwin song that includes a 007 cameo.
10. "You Stepped Out of a Dream" A swinging take on this tune where everyone gets to stretch out on their solos a bit.
